Brain Teaser Games for You and Your Children
Today’s children are fortunate enough to grow with regular brain gym treatment at schools that can keep their brain active. They may include playing some cool brain teaser games and puzzles to sharpen their reflexes and improve their logical reasoning. There are so many online brain teaser games and tricky puzzles designed with such a motive.
Fun during learning can show a great impact on a child’s learning; it conceives concepts fast when it comes to a game. Put some stacking rings in front of a baby and watch the way it learns to stack the rings according to their size. Similarly give a 30-piece jigsaw to a 5 year old and see the way it fixes. So I want to say that when a concept is designed in the form of a game, children conceive it pretty fast and without actually too much stress on the brain.
Take an online brain teaser game and sit with your child (needless to say the child accepts to play with alacrity). You will see a change in the way child conceives things ever since it has started playing the teaser games or puzzle games and the basic objective of these teaser games is to improve logical thinking and application by a child.
Some of the online brain games provide such a workout to the child’s brain that it is reflected in the child’s cognitive skills. Still better if these games are designed with some interactive animations and the child falls in love with them. Indulge your child in playing more of brain teasers game and you notice that their brain is working way faster and better.
There are so many online teaser games ranging from simple beginners’ brain teasers, puzzles to riddles, you can involve your child to play one after another and you will be startled to notice an increased attentiveness as well as enhanced memory in your child. Some of the online brain games are uniquely designed after careful scientific research with a special objective.
As reading is a food for thought and helps build a healthy mind, similarly any of online brain teasers game can be food for the brain and helps sharpen logic to perform better.
You may want to check with any of the brain teaser games and try playing them on a regular basis. We believe you could be a strong testimony of how these brain games sharpened your reflexes and how important and necessary its to play such games on a regular basis. Indulging in mind games and puzzles for 10 minutes per day can provide productive results and benefits. Surely mind games and puzzles are the most effective and approachable answer to the question, “how to improve memory?” posed earlier.
Brain Gym Exercises – Great Way to Enhance Brain Power
We exercise to develop our muscles and to improve its function. Brain gym exercises are formulated to give your brain some tactical works to accomplish and to increase its power. Each activity we perform and our every thought process is controlled by our brain, to be more specific, by millions of neurons. Experts have proved that each memory is actually an electrochemical process entangled in the neuronal circuit inside our brain. This electrochemical unit will go into hibernation if you do not exercise them regularly and in a proper way. Brain gym exercises are those work outs.
Neuroplasticity is a term in medical science that refers to the continuous adaptation process occurring in our brain familiarizing us to the outside world. By persuading this neuroplasticity using the rightly formulated activities, you can enhance your brain function. Challenging your brain to some difficult activities, you can promote the neuroplasticity and can keep off some brain related diseases like absentmindedness and Alzheimer’s disease. This is due to increased secretion of neuropeptides throughout these activities.
It is seen that we use only 10% of the total capacity that our brain can handle. But it can be increased up to 50% by playing some simple games that are called brain gym exercises. These games are so formulated that they will increase the level of working memory, attention and the processing speed of your brain. Your reflex action will also be increased because you have to press some buttons in quick succession.
Practice makes a man perfect. Therefore, you have to practice these games regularly and in a continuous basis to increase the score and the overall functioning of the brain. Start doing some brain gym exercises today and see the difference after a couple of weeks, your brain function will be greatly increased.

I have improved my memory power significantly!
I never realized that memory games could have such an impact on me! Wow! It really works wonders. Yesterday I was talking to my friend through phone, he asked me to note his new office telephone number, but I did not have any paper and pen near me. But he just narrated it, and I just wished I could remember it after he finished talking. I went to my table and wrote the 12 digit number, I thought it was just a coincidence that I was able to remember such a long numeral, only a moment later I realized that it was a result of the memory games that I have been playing!
There are many memory games in Lumosity.com, but my favorite memory game is Monster Garden… It is a nice game where different monsters appear in particular squares of a checker board and you need to remember where they appeared and in what sequence.
My memory will be useful not only in noting down the phone numbers, but also to remember my learning in business. Bottom line, the man with significantly more memory power will always lead a healthier, happier and prosperous life.
I have made it a habit to train my memory for 15 minutes every morning. Since I have made it a habit like brushing my teeth, I no longer need to push myself to sit and play games. After it not hard drill like jogging and weight lifting, it is actually fun to play those games. It gets better if we compete the scores with friends or family members.
My advice to you: Do you keep driving your car without stopping for gas and tell “I am too busy driving and I am not stopping for gas.” Sounds foolish right? Take a little time of your busy day to play a little game to keep your brain fit. It will help you a lot in the long run.

Brain Miracle: Half Brain Removed and She Still Leads a Normal Life!
The human brain has an amazing ability to transform itself to suit the necessary functions of our body. In the following video you can see that a 3 year old girl survived and leads a normal life even after her right part of the brain has been completely removed. Really a miracle!
Play the pain away: Video games for better health
We know that little Johnny would be better off making some friends and playing outside instead of being coddled by his PlayStation. But for some kids, an engrossing video game is just what the doctor ordered.
Video games have been used with some success for pain management in children. This works primarily by providing a captivating distraction from the discomfort. In cancer patients, playing video games can mitigate the nausea that comes with chemotherapy. Even after treatment, patients that played video games had a lower systolic blood pressure and required fewer analgesics. [Note that Stanford researchers are currently evaluating the possibility that cognitive deficits due to chemotherapy can be reversed with Lumosity exercises.]
Though sometimes criticized for inciting violence and displacing more worthwhile activities, if gaming is approached in moderation and with a modicum of maturity it is safe for most people. Click Here to play Lumosity Brain games free trial.
Men more likely to have problems with memory and thinking skills…
CHICAGO – When it comes to remembering things, new research shows men are more likely than women to have mild cognitive impairment, the transition stage before dementia. The research will be presented at the American Academy of Neurology 60th Anniversary Annual Meeting in Chicago, April 12–19, 2008.
“This is one of the first studies to determine the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment among men and women who have been randomly selected from a community to participate in the study,” said study author Rosebud Roberts, MD, with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and member of the American Academy of Neurology. Mild cognitive impairment can also be described as impairment in memory or other thinking skills beyond what’s expected for a person’s age and education.
For the study, 2,050 people living in Olmsted County, Minnesota, who were between the ages of 70 and 89 were interviewed, examined, and given cognitive tests. Overall, 15 percent of the group had mild cognitive impairment.
The study found men were one-and-a-half times more likely to have mild cognitive impairment than women. The finding remained the same regardless of a man’s education or marital status.
“These findings are in contrast to studies which have found more women than men (or an equal proportion) have dementia, and suggest there’s a delayed progression to dementia in men,” said Roberts. “Alternately, women may develop dementia at a faster rate than men.”

Cognitive Training and Aging of the Brain
K. Warner Schaie and Sherry L. Willis are two of the more important researchers in the area of aging and cognitive training. They oversee the Seattle Longitudinal Study, which followed adults across many years as they grew older, regularly monitoring their cognitive status. Among their most important findings:
* Through cognitive training (exercises for the brain), older people can improve their abilities.
* Those who have had a decline in their thinking abilities can get back to where they were 14 years earlier.
* Certain abilities are more likely to decline with age than others. Four abilities that typically get worse are:
- processing speed
- reasoning
- memory
- spatial orientation
* Cognitive training can impact everyday tasks. For example, reasoning training can make people better at solving problems around the household or logistics of transportation.
Does Cell Phones Affect Brain Activity? The Truth…
Ever since the advent of cellular phones, horror stories have been circulating on issues about its safety, particularly the effects it has on the human brain. Some have become increasingly worried and resort to using an ear piece whenever they are on the phone. While others, like myself included, make sure that their cell phones are no where close to their heads when sleeping. I’ve met people who become agitated when a cell phone antenna is pointing in their direction. Amongst the public’s concern, I was soon caught up in buying a “Safe Guard,” a round sticker that fits nicely on top of the receiving end of the phone, to reduce Electromagnetic Waves, or so the company claimed.
Although no studies have shown a correlation between cell phone use and brain damage, the International Journal of Neuroscience published a study that found a slower EEG brain wave pattern during cell phone use. This difference in brain activity was subtle - within the normal range - but may reflect a different state of awareness. In fact, they also discovered that frequent cell phone users performed better in selective attention tasks. It’s possible that talking on the phone in the midst of the bustling world’s distractions requires a level of concentration that effectively works as cognitive training of attention.
